Tales From The Dark Tower Review

Tales From The Dark Tower begins with The Dark Tower in which the brave knight Brom journeys to the tower to face and slay the cursed monster within. Each story though written by different authors, links to one another and revolves around the Dark Tower. Throughout the book the reader will embark on a journey and be confronted by vampires, lonely ghosts, witty gargoyles as well as the occasional sorceress.

The artwork created by Joseph Vargo is the inspiration behind each story, and the stories fit together to create continuity throughout the book. Vargo collaborated with the authors to create the theme throughout, so while the book is an anthology or short stories, they flow on from one another to almost become a novel of sorts.

Readers will enjoy the truly gothic and old-world storytelling. They will feel for the lonely Brom, as well as sympathize with Maeve just as they as much as they relate to the fearful townspeople.

A fascinating horror anthology, made all the more entertaining due to Joseph Vargo’s artwork that accompanies each story. Tales From The Dark Tower is the perfect book to curl up with on a dark and stormy night.

Tales From The Dark Tower was first published in 2003 by Monolith Graphics (ISBN 0-9675756-0-5). Joseph Vargo is an acclaimed fantasy artist and has published a book of his artwork called Born of the Night as well as a second anthology of gothic stories called The Legend of Darklore Manor.
